I like my Kestrels and have purchased at least three so far which I use for hiking and checking room temperature and humidity. The problem is with the fragile battery covers that break off very easily. There are three thin arms that hold the cover in place made of flimsy plastic that can easily break every time I change the battery. If even one arm breaks, the other two can’t hold the cover in place. Maybe you could come up with a stronger plastic or even better a metal cover. I would gladly pay more for a sturdy metal cover as an upgrade cover for all my Kestrels.
